INDIBA Radiofrequency

I am an approved and certified INDIBA therapist, able to offer this amazing technology to all my equine patients when needed.

INDIBA devices can only be used by registered veterinary professionals and trained therapists, and I’m delighted to be able to offer this superb therapeutic tool. Using clinical understanding and reasoning for each and every condition being treated, I ensure the appropriate dose is given and adjusted when needed depending on how the injury is responding. In addition, to get the best result this will  be combined with manual skills and a rehabilitation exercise plan. INDIBA treatments have cumulative effects, so for best results, a course of treatment is recommended. See Prices for more information.

This treatment provides a greater depth of penetration to reach structures that cannot be reached by manual or laser therapy alone, such as the sacroiliac (SI) joint and deep gluteal muscles. It has many benefits:

  • Can be used anywhere on the body

  • Can be used with or without thermal effect (heat) thus can be used on new injuries

  • Has no limit to depth it can treat as the current runs from the treatment electrode placed on or below the site of interest back to return plate on sternum so can treat tricky areas like the SI joint

  • Does not require clipping of the hair and is not influenced by skin or coat colour

  • Provides non-invasive and drug-free pain management, cell stimulation, regeneration & recovery for enhanced healing and performance.

  • Can still effectively treat even in bandage or cast as electrode can be placed below injured area (even on hoof/frog) and therapy will pass up through injured area back to return plate

  • There is no withdrawal period and the therapy is approved to be delivered at FEI competitions

  • Many trainers and riders have found a reduced or no need for joint injections the horse has previously had after a course of INDIBA, removing the inherent risks of infections and decreased effectiveness of injections, as well as drug testing risk

Vet Consent

Why is veterinary consent required?

The Veterinary Surgeon's Act (1966) requires Veterinary Physiotherapists to have permission to assess or treat an animal. This ensures that the animal is suitable to undertake a physiotherapy assessment and treatment. This consent and/or notification will be required before physiotherapy treatment can start.

For animals not currently under veterinary review or treatment, consent is not necessary. However, LHB Vet Physio will notify your vet practice prior to treating your animal. All prices for the initial assessment includes a written report for your vet or insurance company if required. Veterinary Physiotherapy is often covered by insurance companies, please call to discuss.

INDIBA Technology and Research

INDIBA (capacitive and resistive monopolar radio frequency)

INDIBA Radiofrequency is supported by peer-reviewed scientific research  in both the human and veterinary field.

This link explains the technology and how it is so effective:

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwYES28k3hM

It is the ONLY Radiofrequency device globally with Medical Device Regulation (MDR) STATUS – which is significantly more rigorous than FDA and CE demarcation which only shows safety. Indiba is given MDR status as the 400 clinical papers are published showing efficacy on INDIBA itself, the same as a pharmaceutical drug.

It operates at a fixed frequency of 448kHz which is the optimum frequency for biological effectiveness (Hernández-Bule, Trillo, Martinez-Garcia, Abilahoud, & Úbeda, 2017). It can induce both a thermal and non-thermal effect, and research has identified it to be one of the modalities with the deepest penetration potential ( Kumuran, Herbland, & Watson, 2017 ). Kumaran, Herbland & Watson (2017) identified that locations treated with radiofrequency experienced a significant increase in blood flow volume.
